Cycle Ability is holding their 2nd Annual Bicycle Camp and registration is now open! Spots are limited, so register early. Programs like this are available around the country, but now we have one here in Utah. These programs are amazing! For a child with a developmental disability, learning to ride a two-wheeled bike gives the child a real sense of accomplishment and independence.
iCan Bike trainers will work with each child for 75 minutes a day to develop their riding skills over the course of the 5-day camp. Each child will be paired with two volunteers who will assist them with balance and provide enthusiastic encouragement as they practice. The vast majority of riders who graduate from the camp will ride away on a two-wheel bike, without assistance. They will be able to return to their families and peers with knowledge and skills that will enable them to participate in activities that they have never before enjoyed.
Given that Utah has hundreds of miles of recreation roads (Murdock Canal bicycle trail, Jordan River bicycle trail, Moab Canyon pathway, Red Canyon bicycle trail, etc.), knowing how to ride a bicycle can be a great way to spend time outdoors with friends and family.
